  • For the Google Sheets page, click on the blank section
  • From the spreadsheet page go to File > Import
  • Select upload under Import File
  • Choose Import action > Replace spreadsheet > Detect automatically, and change the text to dates and numbers > Yes
  • Click Import file

In Shopify, for a single product, all required data will be entered. You should start with an easy product that has no variants.

  • Firstly add the title of the product with additional info like color/size etc.
  • Add the Handle. It will be at all lower-case with dashes “-“.
  • For the HTML, enter a proper description of the product. Now, this can be mentioned as plain text.
  • Enter the company name of the product. This is especially important if you are selling merchandise from a recognizable brand.
  • For any type, declare what the product is in the simplest terms possible.
  • Enter a lower case words list under the tags option. Tags are used to filter the products in the Shopify theme.
  • Enter TRUE under Published option.
  • TITLE under option 1 Name.
  • Enter Default Title under Option 1 Value.
  • Put internal SKU of your product. If you don’t have, then you should create your product’s SKUs.
  • Set the boxed product weight in grams, under variant grams.
  • Enter the up-to-date stock level as a numerical value for Variant Inventory quantity.
  • Set manual, under variant fulfillment option.
  • Enter the pre-tax price of your products for Variant Price
  • Leave Variant Compare price option blank.
  • Enter TRUE, under variant, needs shipping.
  • Set TRUE, under Variant Taxable
  • Enter the product bar code, Under Variant Barcode.
  • You should first upload the product images to your site with a URL for product listing in Shopify.
  • Once all images have been entered with URLs and also number them like 1, 2, 3, etc.
  • Under Image Alt Text, provide a description of each image up to 16 words.
  • Under G, Enter the weight of the product in grams
  • Enter G, for variant weight unit.
  • Leave blank variant tax code option.
  • Under Cost per item, enter the product price you paid. It will allow for useful analytics data when you start the export.

Step 3:

Product variations are optional that a client can choose before adding the product to the cart. Adding product variants is nearly the same procedure as adding a single product.

  • Enter all likely variants for the chosen Title, under Option 1 Value.
  • In the title, the column with a variant should be filled out for every variant.
  • Enter unique specific data into variant SKU and variant Grams.
  • Enter the same fixed value into the variant Inventory Policy.
  • Variant Compare at Price, Variant Tax Code, and Variant Inventory Tracker will remain blank.
  • Adding images to a variant is equal to adding images for a single product.
  • In the row, an image is added will not have a correlation with another associated variant.
  • You must fill the Variant column of the image to associate an exact image with a variant.
  • Enter the URLs for the images for each variant.
  • For variants, filling the correct number of the cells of Handle. Because it sometimes creates confusion in new users.
  • If one product has many images than variants, repeat the handle for all images rows.

Step 4:

If you work with Google excel Sheets for editing CSV files. For this, you require to download the CSV file on your computer. After downloading you will be able to upload it to Shopify.

  • Select File > Download > .CSV sheet(Comma-separated values)
  • CSV file format must be saved in UTF-8 format. Most spreadsheet apps are able to save CSV files in UTF-8 format by using the option of save as or export command.
  • Save your CSV file in the computer and see the file location for Shopify uploading.

Step 5:

The final step to importing the CSV file in Shopify. It will create for all new products. Before importing the CSV file you will add your product images into the file library of Shopify.

  • Go to Products > All products
  • Click Import
  • In the dialogue box select browse
  • Give the path of your CSV file,
  • Select Open
  • Click Upload file
